POPPERS GALORE

Recently we had a special fly-tying guest at the Roubidoux Fly Fishers’ August meeting. Mike Tucker is from Adairsville Georgia and specializes in the building and tying of foam poppers. It was amazing how many great fly-tying tips Mike dolled out in just a couple of hours. I had always thought that those big foam flies were a lot of work. Mike showed us that they are not near as complex as they seem. Here for your enjoyment are a few photographs of Mike’s poppers.

A Dozen for the Ladies

Here is a dozen PINK Cracklebacks I recently tied for the upcoming CFR Retreat.
Hey everyone next time you sit down at the vise, think about tying up a dozen flies for the ladies at CFR (Casting For Recovery). CFR is as an organization that teaches fly fishing to women who are recovering from breast cancer. As with any organization they can always use help and donations. Just sitting down and tying up some flies can be a great help. Here is a link to the CFR web page if you would like to know more about them http://castingforrecovery.org/ and if you would like to donate flies let me know and I can get you in contact with the Louisa (she coordinates the donations for the Roubidoux Fly Fishers).

No Fishing!

I just had to post this photo from our recent Montauk fishing trip. Note the sign. I had about $8.00 in my pocket. I am not sure how I would have bailed them out of "fishing" jail if they had got busted. On top of that I believe that he got hung up in the tree and lost his bugger...Bad Karma I guess.
